Scorpion Sting Inspires Cigar

Posted: Tuesday, May 13, 2008

By David Savona

Have you ever been stung by a scorpion? It's not a pleasant experience. Sadly, it happens on occasion in the thick of Central American cigar country.

Four years ago, Camacho sales rep Carlos Escalona had a very close encounter with a scorpion that inspired him to remove his pants while screaming, all during a meeting with his boss, Camacho Cigar president Christian Eiroa.

"It got him something good," says Eiroa.

To ensure Escalona's victimization by the arachnid wasn't for naught, Eiroa named one of his newest cigars in honor of the sting. The Camacho Diploma Scorpion and the Camacho Diploma 60/6 are the newest additions to the Camacho Diploma line, which is made with upper-priming wrapper leaves grown in the Jamastran Valley of Honduras.
