A Bold Fonseca

Posted: Wednesday, July 23, 2008

By David Savona

SAG Imports Inc. has created a bold new Fonseca cigar called Fonseca Cubano Viso Fuerte. “It’s not your traditional Fonseca,” said brand creator Manuel Quesada.

The cigars are rolled at Manufactura de Tabacos S.A. (Matasa) in Santiago, Dominican Republic, using a filler blend of Dominican and Connecticut-broadleaf tobaccos, a Cuban-seed binder from the Dominican Republic and a Cuban-seed wrapper grown in Honduras by the Plasencias.

The cigars come in four sizes: Belicoso (6 1/2 by 52), Toro (6 by 54), Robusto (5 1/4 by 52) and Petite Lancero (5 3/4 by 40). Suggested retail prices range from $5.25 to $7.50 per cigar.
